Furness on the march

5th September 2013

Furness Mark Lodge No 36 certainly seems to be heading in the right direction. The September meeting saw the lodge advance a new member, accept a joining member and have three propositions for membership put forward.

WM Ian Cottam was a proud man as he advanced Ryan Parrington who he had proposed as a member at his installation meeting. Ryan is a member of Piel Castle craft lodge. He works as a control room operator at the local gas terminal and is a married man with two young children.

After the meeting Ian said, “As it was my first lodge since my installation it was particularly pleasurable, albeit a little stressful, to be able to advance Ryan who I had proposed as a member. With the other propositions for membership this evening we can look forward to a full programme for this year.”
Acting as Inner Guard on the night was Ryan’s seconder Dennis Laird who was able to be the person who admitted him into the lodge.

Dalton Master Butcher Tom Hird had been a member of a Mark Lodge but had resigned his membership in 1996. Following discussions with his good friend, and PGM’S Special Representative, Brian Davey he decided to resume the degree at Furness Mark Lodge where he was warmly welcomed following a positive ballot.
